The new Department of Motor Vehicles in Fresno is a 21,000 s.f. building situated on 3 1/2 acres. The site includes parking, driving courses, and solar canopies. The building consists of a large waiting area, raised access flooring for DMV staff, abundant natural daylighting and a low velocity thermal displacement cooling system. This facility has been certified as a LEED “Gold” project. It was completed in August of 2014 and was the State’s first DMV Net-Zero project. In 2016, this facility received the Project Achievement Award for Public Works projects under $25 million from Construction Management Association of America Northern California Chapter. The award represents the outstanding project management performed by the entire team to keep the project on schedule and within budget.
